Pseudotsuga menziesiithis is an extremely important tree. It is highly valued as a Christmas tree, timber, & climax species in many mountain areas of the western U.S.A. Douglass Fir is a large tree that can grow over 100 feet tall. It can be grown in the high desert. This fir differs form the Cedrus deodara in that its foliage is held strongly upright & the branches are not weeping.
