Calocedrus decurrens mature trees are sometimes confused with Giant Sequoias. Incense cedars smell all over with a pleasant woody smell that repels insects & fungi. Incense cedar only grows in California, a Small part of Oregon, & small colonies in Baja California. Simple cones split when dry & have only two seeds. The foliage is scale like & fan shaped. The foliage of the cedar is pendulous where as in Giant Sequoia it is upright & prickly.
