Butterfly Bush

Buddleia davidii is native to central Asia & is commonly grown around the world. This deciduous shrub is grown for its abundant spring & summer flower spikes that can be a foot long. Flower colors range from white, yellow, pinks, purples to nearly blue. The flowers attract all sorts of pollinators & add color to the landscape. Bloom time is spring & summer. Butterfly Bushes grow quickly 6 to 10 feet high & wide & tolerate heat, cold, drought, & poor soil. Irrigate deeply once a week during hot weather. Butterfly Bushes benefit from being pruned back (cut the plant back by 50%) hard once a year during the winter. This revitalizes the plant & prepares the plant for a repeat bloom.
